Composed by Akira Yamaoka, the music balances between melodic tunes and stylized noise adding a lot to the atmosphere of the game. Among the highlights is the main theme "Silent Hill" which playing mainly with a mandolin, starts off the soundtrack (and the game) in a powerful and emotional way. Other great tunes are "Tears of...", "Killing Time", "Don't Cry", "Not Tomorrow" "I'll Kill You" and "Otherside". While not the best soundtrack in the series, it has some of the strongest tunes. Silent Hill 2 is considered by many as having the best soundtrack in the series. The soundtracks starts with "Theme of Laura", one of the single best tunes in the series and the main theme from Silent Hill 2, which is played in its majority with a guitar and some reminiscences of "Silent Hill" from the first game. Among the best tracks on the disc are "Ordinary Vanity", "Promise (Reprise)", "Heaven's Night", the hard "Angel's Thanatos", the melancholic "Magdalene" and "True", and "Laura Plays the Piano". There is only one version of the soundtrack, available with different packages in Japan and Europe. With fewer tracks than the first Silent Hill soundtrack, this time the soundtrack is better arranged and more enjoyable to listen.
